Music Biography
Oscar Bannink started with violin at the age of 7 at the Amsterdamsche Muziekschool, where he took lessons from Willem de Vries. Later he studied violin with Gert-Jan Leuverink (Concertgebouworkest), Hiu Kian Pin (Concertgebouworkest), Marie-José Schrijner (Nieuw Sinfonietta Amsterdam and Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest), and Johan Kracht (Concertgebouworkest).
Over the years he has accumulated an extensive experience in repertoire diversity, from chamber music to symphonic works, and from instrumental to opera and choir music.
First getting experience with semi-professional orchestras and the Hoofdstad Operetta, he then went on to substitute at the Radio Symphony Orchestra, Balletorchestra, the Noordhollands Philharmonic Orchestra and subsequently Holland Symfonia.
He is also member, and one of the leaders, of Philharmonia Amsterdam. Participating in numerous orchestras and ensembles, his artistic range stretches out from baroque music until contemporary or experimental music.
For a number of years Oscar Bannink has studied playing baroque and classical music, and has participated in many projects on period instruments, with the Philharmonia Baroque Soloists, the Arion Ensemble, the Hanse Ensemble and others. He has received coachings from Stanley Hoogland, Wim ten Have, Viola de Hoog and Marten Root. Since its foundation in 2000 he's been a member of Baroque Ensemble Eik & Linde.
